The Castle
The tower, which is the oldest part of the castle, was built in 1450's. It was in this tower that the dethroned King Erik XIV was poisoned to death in 1577. In the middle of the 17th century the Banér family had the tower rebuilt in a baroque style similiar to how it appears today.

Added by Gustav Vasa in the middle of the 1500's to complement the tower built by his grandfather 100 years earlier. Storage rooms, casemates and dungeons were constructed inside the ramparts. The Park:

In the 1300's, when the foundations for the original Örbyhus estate were laid, the surrounding area was all damp marshland which was consequently drained and then raised. During the 1600's, a garden was laid out according to the drawings of the French architect Simon de la Vallée. The gardens you see today were designed when Count Eugene von Rosen ordered a complete restorations of the castle in 1901-09 by the Swedish architect Israel Wahlman.

It was even used to grow more exotic plants such as lemon- and orange-trees. Nowadays, this beautiful building is frequently used for concerts, exhibitions and organised parties.

The Farmhouse, today the club house of Örbyhus Golf Club was built in 1876 and designed by C. Granzow.
